The future is ours to win

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in America with over 94,000 members, and YDSA is the youth & campus wing. As socialists, we believe in the democratization of all of society in order to end oppression, exploitation, and domination. We fight for this new world by:

Working to build a fighting, democratic labor movement
Fighting for transformative reforms such as College for All, Medicare for All, a Green New Deal
Centering struggles against racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of oppression.
Working to build up independent working-class politics and organization.
Creating just campuses and communities.

Our Events

YDSA Purdue hosts several types of meetings and events, all of which aim to make our members into better organizers and to build the power of the working class in and around West Lafayette.

Workshops

Develop skills for organizing

It is critical for the success of our movement that young socialists develop the skills necessary to engage in struggles and win. If you're just cutting your teeth as a student activist, or if you're a seasoned organizer, come sharpen your organizing skills with us!

Political Education

Learn about socialism and other working-class issues

Curious what socialists believe? Interested in learning more about socialist theory, history, and praxis? These are the meetings for you! Every other meeting our chapter hosts is dedicated to political education. We often present about topics related to our organizing work and current events.

Reading Group

Discuss socialist theory and praxis

Meet with us at our weekly reading group to discuss an article, book, play, movie, or other Left media. In the past we've read about topics ranging from the history of revolutions and labor organizing around the world, to the tactics of protests in Minneapolis, to current DSA political debates such as how to relate to electroal and labor struggles.

Social Events

Build comradery and have fun

We don't just organize! We host events such as t-shirt printing, presentation nights, movie nights, collage making, and potlucks. Attend a social event to get to know members of the chapter better and decompress a little.

Executive Committee

Purdue YDSA is lead by a democratically elected Executive Committee which establishes chapter priorities, organizes meetings, manages funds, and ensures that the chapter grows and develops in healthy ways.
